  • Window Shopping Wishlist

wishlist_02.14[Classic Full Metal Sunglasses | Black Abstract Print Embellished Trim Kimono | Vans Authentic Viiii Trainers | D Frame SunglassesZip Front Quilted Faux Leather Skirt | Bikini Top & Bottoms | Round Crystal Frame Sunglasses | Converse Dainty Trainers | Black V Neck Cami | Classic Metal Sunglasses]

As you can tell, I’m all mixed up with this wishlist. Other than last Sunday when I went shopping in Leeds I haven’t been clothes shopping for a while, I think I “treated” myself to new jeans in January because the ones I had had faded and the others had a hole in them.

I’m mixed up because I’m half wish listing clothes for at the moment in England and I’m half already wish listing things for when I got over to America in June.

On Saturday while in Leeds we ventured into Warehouse where I’ve not been into for yonks. Me and Mel ended up trying on all they’re sunglasses and I honestly can’t chose which ones I like the most! So I genuinely want them all, I want some special ones for America so I was thinking if I got a few pairs then I’ll be able to mix and match to what I’m wearing. Also in Warehouse I found the type of pleather skirt I’ve been looking for for so long! I saw one similar on an Instagram photo and I fell in love with it then.

Yesterday I walked past Schuh while on lunch and I fell in love with a pair of Vans, I was unable to find them on the website though but the purple tie-dye style Vans caught my eye while browsing, alone with the light green Dainty Converse. I already have a pair of converse in this style but I really loved the pastel spring/summer colour of these ones.

One thing that’s missing is a fluffy jumper I’ve been drooling over as I walk past River Island everyday, but again I couldn’t find that on the website so I then ended up getting distracted on the website again and I fell in love with the strappy bikini. I’m more of a bandeau bikini wearer but I really like this one and think I may go outside my comfort zone & embrace the weird tan lines. I also loved the kimono, not so much the embellishments once I actually looked closer but something similar would be great to cover up on the beach or even in the evenings when it gets cooler while in America. The cami top was a last minute addition because I’ve been wanting one for so long, but again I’ve just never been and got one yet. The black one I think will go with a lot of things and I will be able to wear it in England and America.

Have you got to the same stage as me starting to look for spring/summer clothes but still wanting to buy things for the confusing British weather we’re going through at the moment?

  • The Body Shop Haul – 22.02.14

[L-R: Facial Buffer | Colour Crush Eyeshadow  – Be My Clementine| Vitamin C Microdermabrasion ScrubVitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil |Sample Of Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream]

After Saturdays meetup we headed over to The Body Shop for a bit of a treat because we were lucky enough to have got some vouchers from Sophie & Autumn that had come to give us a bit of a talk. I tried to be reasonably good but I could have bought so much more than I did.

So far I’ve only used a few things, my eyelids  have actually started to dry up and have become really sore so I’m laying off any products for a couple of days just to let them calm down and not have anything irritate/dry them out more.

I’m yet to use the facial buffer, I’ve been suffering with dry skin recently so I thought this might help to buff that away a bit, it is pretty rough though so I won’t use it all the time. I’ve so far used the Microdermabrasion scrub once and I already know I love it, could quite possibly give my beloved Origins modern friction a run for its money. The Vitamin E range has caught my eye every time I walk past the shop in the mornings on my way to work, I decided to go for the best selling Serum-in-Oil and Autumn kindly gave me a sample of the Intense Moisture Cream to see how I feel about the combination of the two.

To make the cost up to a certain amount to get a handful of freebies I also picked up the Colour Crush eyeshadow in Be My Clementine. I’d hung my nose over it and I thought it was such a unique colour that I’d take the plunge with it. Below are the goodies I then got for free for spending so much!

    body-shop-gifts

When I was told that I was eligible to get a few extra goodies from The Body Shop I obviously got really excited, and when I was shown the handful of bits I was going to get I may have squealed a little bit.

Included in the gifts I got Aloe Calming Cleanser and Toners, which I’m yet to use but am interested in. the only thing from this range that I have is the mask which I rarely use. I also got given a black eyeliner with a smudger on the other end, you can never have too many of them, love a good black eyeliner. Lastly I got a Big and Curvy Mascara which I’ve used once and have fallen in love with!

Full and more in depth reviews will follow, let me know what you want to know about first!

  • #MidsBlogMeet – 22.02.14

    the-malt-cross

Last Saturday I ventured out all by myself to go to the MidsBlogMeet that had been organised by Emma and Kelly. I was a little bit nervous, going alone knowing that I wouldn’t know a single soul, but the thought that I might meet more local bloggers was what spurred me on. Although I had worried that it was just a mummy bloggers meetup my mind was put at ease by Emma who confirmed there would also be other lifestyle girls there.

When I got there I was warmly welcomed by Emma and Kelly and I then managed to introduce myself to Sarah and Iris at the bar as I was ordering the most incredible hot chocolate I’ve ever had. We were then joined by Cate, Lauren and a Different Kelly.

    2014-02-22 12.47.16

After introducing ourselves individually we then had another chance to mingle while a giveaway went on. This then lead on to the most incredible buffet set out by The Malt Cross.

Food was then followed by Sophie and Autumn from the nearby Body Shop coming in and giving us a run through of old an new products, and when I say new, not even out yet products. The thing that’s just come out that caught everyone’s eye was the hair chalks.

    body-shop-talk

We then had a few more giveaways and the day started to wind down, I managed to get to chat to Amanda and get to know her too. It went so quickly I was sad I had to leave. We were then treated to some goodies including some scrummy sweets from Swizzels Matlow, which I was rather giddy about. A few Weleda samples, a baking/cooking recipe book and a chocolate mould provided by Iris & her Bakedbyme blog/shop.

     goodie-bag-midsblogmeet

We’d also been treated to a discount voucher for The Body Shop so a handful of us headed over there for some retail therapy. I’ll do a separate haul post with what I ended up getting.

I would love to thank Emma and Kelly for putting on such an amazing meetup, everyone was made to feel so welcome and I felt so comfortable and everyone there were so friendly. I look forward to the next one!

  • Review – UBU Brushes

    2013-10-06 17.53.07

I purchased these brushes on a whim while shopping at my local ASDA. I wouldn’t have know about UBU as a brand had it not been for  the fact I’d received the foundation brush in a meetup goodie bag. It was a while ago when I got these so I apologise for the photo.

I chose to buy this set of brushes because a) you can never have too many makeup brushes and b) I had a use for all of the brushes in the set.

The Brush on the left I use for large amounts of eyeshadows, be it an all over base colour or a large brow bone highlight. The brush in the middle I use for either precision crease application or for smudging liners etc. And the third brush isn’t as great as I was hoping but it’s good for applying eyeshadow liner.

It’s a good little kit for what you pay for it. I’m really struggling to even find any mention of it online and I can’t remember how much they actually are as a set. But if you see them in any stores like ASDA and are a fellow collector of eyeshadow brushes, then definitely pick them up.

  • #FOTD 6 – A Glittery Eye To S..

fotd_productlist[Products Used – Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder |Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner Midnight Cowboy | Ben Nye Banana Powder | Benefit Hervana Blusher | Ilah Brow Travel Kit | Urban Decay Naked 3 Pallet Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser | MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Lightscapade | Make Up For Ever HD Powder | Carmex Moisture Plus Pink Lip Balm | Maybelline Fit Me Concealer | Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation | Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara ]

The other day I decided to actually wear some makeup and I also decided to play around a bit and introduce a product I was yet to use. I received the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner as my secret Santa present and I am absolutely thrilled with it, just shows that whoever it was that was my secret Santa knows me quite well.

fotd6Now these aren’t the best photos to show it off but there is a glittery line there. I used my newish Urban Decay Naked 3 pallet for the main eye colours and then used the liner as a replacement from the standard black that I always use.

I stuck with the pink theme and used my old favourite blusher, Hervana from Benefit. And on my lips was just the Carmex moisture plus lip balm in Pink, I love that product, I have it in peach too and they feel so good on the lips but also do them good too.

This look divided the people closest to me, my Mum kindly told me I look like a fairy which I thought was quite nice, my Dad was kind enough to make an input and say it looked nice (as far as a Dads makeup opinion goes). But Harveys reaction was pretty harsh saying I look like a stripper! Well not in so many words but the sentence involved “dollar bills”, which I thought was pretty cruel, but we laughed it off and he did say it looked nice really, but made me worry a bit. I liked it but I think I would still do a black liner but then do the glitter over the top.

It’s not an everyday look but it’s always fun to play with makeup.

What do you think? How would you use the glitter liner?

[L – R | Loreal Skin Perfection Cleansing And Perfecting Milk | Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer | Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner | John Frieda Luxurious Volume ShampooOrigins Make A Difference+ Rejuvenating Treatment | YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation]

Happy Monday! I thought I’d start the week with a clear out of empties.

Loreal Skin Perfection Cleansing And Perfecting Milk – I bought this product in combination with the Loreal Micellar water. I wanted this as the initial makeup remover to get the majority of my makeup off at the end of the day. For that purpose it really did do the job but I can’t really think of anything wowing about this product, I wouldn’t say its a bad product, and for the price it’s really good, but I will probably keep buying different ones until I find one that wows me.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer – This product is one of my all time favourite products, it smells incredible, it feels incredible when used on your face and it’s just so refreshing. This product is great to use after you’ve used a cleanser to get the majority of your makeup off, I usually use this twice, once then and then again after I’ve had a proper cleanse in the bathroom with whatever product and a muslin cloth. This will be a product that I will repurchase and repurchase again, it’s not cheap, but I think it’s worth it.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner – This product was the first product that I ever bought because of reading blogs, OK it’s not your average blog but it was when Lauren Conrad recommended this that I jumped at the chance. I hate to admit it but I had had this product for almost 2 years, bad I know, but I’ve made it my mission to use all the products I already own before buying any more. I did love this product, and it did help with the condition of my hair but it’s best for de-tangling your hair after having a shower.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo – I’m forever buying different shampoos and conditioners, I think I bought this when it first came out. I’m always sucked in when it comes to products that promise thicker hair. I’m not 100% sure how successful it was with this product but I also don’t think I used it consistently enough to see the benefit.

Origins Make A Difference+ Rejuvenating Treatment – I’m a massive fan of Origins products, I have had a number of them over the time. This product I bought with hopes that it would cure my dry skin woes. I ended up using this as a daily moisturiser. It was never a cure but it definitely helped with the dryness of my face.

YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation – This has got to be one of my favourite foundations ever.I was gutted when this ran out, I even went to lengths to try and get it to last as long as possible. I’d have said the colour may have been a tad pale for me but it was all right when bronzed up. It was the perfect combination of fuller coverage but natural looking on the skin. If it wasn’t for the price tag and the fact I have about 10 other foundations to use up I’d have gone out and repurchased this.

Have you tried any of these products yourselves?

  • Go Go Gadgets – Urbanears Med..

    urban_ears_medis_raspberry

Before Christmas Ubanears held a “not so black Friday sale” so I thought I’d take advantage of it and order some Urbanears Medis headphones for while I’m out running and at the gym. I was in two minds to mention it but they do take a while to get to you because I think they’re a Scandinavian company. They took even longer to get to me because of the rush on orders during the sale. Just a pre warning if you’re going to order them as a present.

    IMG_0033

The Urbanears Medis headphones are perfect for the job I wanted them for. I’m no expert when it comes to anything like this but I do know that they have a great clear sound quality that although they don’t “plug” your ears you don’t lose any of the sound that the headphones produce. While running they’re perfect, the weird shape of them means the do sit snuggly in your ear but there’s still space to be able to hear outside noises, which is perfect for when you’re out road running because it’s so unsafe to run deaf.

The little bobble at the top of the headphone is interchangeable depending on what comfortably fits your ears ranging from small to extra large. Another addition is the extra bit of headphone with you just add on to the end of the headphones and it changes the connection. I’m still yet to use this, I don’t really see the point in it myself just for plugging it into my iPhone.

Finally there’s the microphone that comes on all types of headphones that Urbanears produce. With the one button touch you can answer the phone and then put the call down. While listening to music you can click once to pause it, press again to start playing again and a double click acts as a skip to take you to the next song. You can also get the Medis Plus model where you can also control the volume from the microphone too.

Personally I love these headphones and they’re the second pair of Urbanears ones I’ve bought (I also own the Bagis model).

Are you a headphone buff or is it all about style for you?

  • #FOTD 5 – Benefit Groovy Kind..

    benefit_groovy_kinda_love

Well hello there, long time no beauty post!

Today I thought I’d talk about one of the presents I got for Christmas that I’ve been loving using recently. This is one of Benefits gift sets full of lovely sample size products that cover almost every aspect of your makeup. I recently used the Benefit Groovy Kinda Love kit while I was in London visiting my sister for her birthday, it’s perfect for travelling. It does come over as a bit of a night time look but you can use the shadows as you please and don’t have to follow the instructions like I did. But I thought I would do for the purpose of showing off the kit to you.

    IMG_0178(1)

    benefit_groovy_kinda_love_eye

The photos don’t do it justice really. I followed the instruction manual that comes with it, using Shimmer Down, the dark taupey gold colour all over the eyelid from lash line to crease. Tickle my ivory, the matte white colour to my brow bone as a highlight. Then using Guilt-y Pleasure, the gold colour all over the main eyelid. Finishing off with Kiss Me, I’m Tipsy. the shimmery brown colour in the crease, outer corner & under the lower lash line to add definition. I then used the mini They’re Real mascara after curling my lashes. I think I’m the only person in the world that really isn’t a fan of this mascara.

    benefit_groovy_kinda_love_kit

For the skin I used the Porefessional primer underneath my foundation to make it last longer and look smoother. I then used the blusher that comes in the set with is a mini duo of Dandelion, a blusher from Benefit that I didn’t already have and Gimme Fever which is a shimmery rose colour. To finish off using the kit I used the also famous Benetint lip and cheek tint on my cheeks a little bit but also to add colour to my lips. But I was unfortunately having a bad lip day so it didn’t sit very nicely in the cracks but I do usually love the product.

Have you used any of Benefits gift sets? Which other ones would you recommend?

  • Visiting The Big Sis In The Big Smo..

    cIMG_0233

Last weekend I travelled down to London with my Mum, Dad and Harvey to celebrate my big sister turning 26!

We went down in the car & we offered Harvey the chance to go down and visit his friend who also lives down there which he was thankful for. I managed to get Friday off so we had an extra bit of a day with her and so we weren’t just spending most of the time travelling. The weather was appalling on Friday evening when we went out for food but we ended up in a quaint little pub and had a few drinks to wait for the rain to subside. Once it had calmed down, we tried to get into Wahaca in Soho but it was so busy we ended up in Byron over the road. For saying I’m not a burger fan, these ones are awesome. But don’t even get me started on the puddings. I ended up having their White Chocolate Cheesecake! *drools.

    london_liberty_byron_carnabystreet

Saturday was spent being proper tourists, walking around Kensington Gardens, round the Albert Memorial, round the Princess Diana Memorial then all the way round the edge of the Serpentine to get a hot chocolate from the café. At which point the weather turned cold and a bit miserable again so we then walked all the way to the Victoria and Albert Museum. So as you can tell, it was a day packed full of walking! My dogs were barking by the end of it so we ended up back at my sisters watching Crazy, Stupid Love & eating an Indian takeaway.

    sepentine_rottenrow_albertmemoria

Sunday was our last day and this involved a lot more walking, we headed towards Trafalgar Square for the Chinese New Year celebrations but it was so busy and was just people giving speeches that we couldn’t hear we just ended up having a mooch around and ending up in a Café Nero for a hot chocolate & blueberry muffin. Then we decided to grab our suitcases from my sisters office, meet up with Harvey and head off home.

    trafalgarsquare_chinesenewyear

Now we’re back and I’m writing it up, it really doesn’t look like we did a lot, but we did a LOT of walking and it was nice to just spend a bit of time with the family in an exciting place, it half added London to the list of places I’d move to for a bit. I know there’s a lot of writing for a not very exciting weekend but I thought I’d add in a lot of photos too for you visual people that don’t like to read.

  • New Body Mission – Month One

    2013-11-25 19.09.08

So, one month in! First post is here.

I can’t believe how fast its gone, it’s still been a challenge though!

Last week I pumped up the fitness and did Dancing on Monday then went to the gym on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night. And I think you’ll see that it was definitely worth it! Along with everything else I’ve done.

I’ve still been counting calories, eating a bit better. Making sure I don’t eat out at work too often but not stopping myself from having treats. I’ve now gone 3 months since I drank Coca-Cola, but I have still had the odd fizzy drink with meals out because I never know what to have instead, its usually a lemonade if I do have a fizzy drink. I’m back from London now so I’m going to try and go through February without having any fizzy drinks what so ever! That should be a good challenge.

Lets just get to the details shall we…. can we please just take a  moment to acknowledge the first number of my weight. 8!!!!! I NEVER thought I’d get my weight to say an 8 again! I still can’t believe it myself. I know I weighed myself a few days early but I know that after my trip to London I’d definitely show for my over indulgence! I’m not going to weigh myself again for two weeks I think, I don’t want my weight now to dishearten me. Although it may spur me on instead.

And it’s not just the weight loss that’s amazing me, I’ve lost in measurements too! And I’ve even compared them to when I started properly with the fitness and healthy lifestyle back in November last year, the difference is astonishing. I’m still not ready to show photos but I am so proud of myself, I keep looking at the comparison since November and I still can’t believe that’s what I looked like and I look so different now. Although I feel like I may have lost my photos from January, which is a bit of a bastard. I’m also not sure whats going on with the Fat/Muscle/Water percentages, pretty sure they can’t be right.
