  • New Body Mission – The Weight..

So as you may or may not know since November I’ve been on a weight loss mission and to tone up my body.

When I started my weight loss journey I said  I wouldn’t post my progress photos until I was happy with my body. I’m still not even 80% happy really, but after seeing Jessica (who already had a great body, that flat stomach turned me green for sure) post her photos it got me thinking. And after collecting all my photos together and comparing them side by side I can see a huge improvement in my body and I’ve been showing them to everyone I can that I feel comfortable showing them to.

I’m so proud of the weight loss so far and to be honest, I want to show it off to you, even if only to motivate people that are at the lower end of the scales like myself and just don’t have the motivation and if you’re like myself always thinking to yourself “weight loss isharder when there’s less to lose”.

    At my heaviest I hit 10, when I started this I was 9st 10lbs. I’m now down to 8st 10lbs so I’ve definitely lost a stone over 4/5 months.

Below I will put individual photos separately but I will then do comparison photos side to side at the bottom so you can see how different my body is looking. Completely unedited & half naked, please excuse the bra!

I’m still not finished working on my dream body, but looking at these photos spurs me on to keep going. I’ll post the next lot of progress photos on Wednesday along with weight & new measurements.

  • Review – Maybelline Baby Lips..

Another day another bad photo. This time I have my urge to use the product to blame for this one. I was at Harvey’s mums house and I really wanted to use it so I made sure to snap it before I did.

I know I’m later than late on this hype but I’ve had this product for a while now. When I bought this myself they’d been out for a while in the UK.

I’d read/heard mixed things about the Maybelline baby lips before purchasing the Cherry Me one. One thing that stuck was that it was no better than just a basic lip balm, but when I saw it in the coloured variety I knew I had to purchase one.

I suffer with really dry lips so I struggle with lipsticks on an almost daily occurrence. Hence why I thought this would be a perfect in between, it gives me a good amount of colour and it also nourishes my lips at the same time, so win win for me.

It’s perfect for day to day wear or even as a soft colour for nights out.

Below is a swatch of it on my lips.

Have you tried the Maybelline baby lips and what do you think of them, over hyped? Are there any other coloured ones that I should keep my eye out for?

  • Scaredoo All-In-One Brush

Eye spy with my little eye, something beginning with Harvey taking this photo in the reflection of the brush! haha.

I got this product in my #NottsBloggerMeet goodie bag and I have to say it was one of the goodies that caught my eye the most. I already have the tangle teaser or “pony brush” as Harv calls it, but you can never have too many hair brushes and this one is rather nifty.

The Scaredoo All-In-One Brush is a multi use product, on first viewing it’s just a basic detangling brush, but on closer inspection you can pull the brush part out and turn it round for the paddle brush side.

I do like this brush, you can get a better hold on it than the tangle teaser and it’s pretty much two products in one. Although Harvey still prefers the tangle teaser, so I really do think with this one it’s all down to preference and what you want it for.

You can get them online for £10.99, I’ve not actually seen them in shops but if I did I would probably pick one up. They also come in a handful of colours including the Salon Black one which I have, baby blue, pretty pink, perfect purple and sunshine yellow. I think if I had the choice I would have gone for the baby blue or pretty pink. But the black one suits me just fine!

Have you ever tried this brush or the tangle teaser? Any others that are similar I might be interested in?

  • Bath And Bodyworks Coconut Lime Bre..

Now I have to start this post by saying a massive thank you to Annabella for this product. After her last trip to America she was kind enough to bring back a few goodies for me that I was so grateful and massively shocked about. As well as this product I also got some Black Cherry Merlot hand wash, which smells divine! I can’t wait to purchase more things with the same scent when I’m over in America.

The Bath And Bodyworks Coconut Lime Breeze shower gel is the perfect little travel bottle, although I could have saved this for my travels I decided I couldn’t wait.

This little bottle is a holiday in a bottle, even when the sun isn’t quite as bright or warm as it would be in a hotter climate, just shut your eyes and use this and you’re taken somewhere more tropical. The scent is quite strong, but so are a lot of Bath And Body Works products.

As a body wash it foams up nicely and despite being a smallish bottle it will last you a while because you can use it liberally.

Have you tried any Bath & Bodyworks products? Which would you recommend I have a sniff of while I’m in America?

  • Real Techniques Travel Essentials K..

    Real Techniques Travel Essentials Kit

The above image is the exact reason you don’t ask someone else to take photos for you while you’re not watching over them. I apologise for how crappy it is.

I’ve been looking for this kit for so long I can’t even tell you. I was tempted to get it online but in the end, I stumbled across it in Superdrug.

In the kit you get three brushes, the essential foundation brush, multi task brush and a domed shadow brush.

I’m yet to really find the perfect use for the essential foundation brush because I’m not a massive fan of this kind of brush for my foundation, I might use it for primers instead. I prefer dense buffing brushes for foundation really so this is my least favourite brush from the set.

Next up is the Multi Task brush which I think is my favourite, I kind of bought this kit just for this brush. At the moment I’ve been using it for blusher mainly, it deposits a fair amount so you have to be careful but I have been liking the bit more obvious blusher look recently (not quite the clown look though.

Finally is the Domed Shadow brush, in my opinion you can never have too many eyeshadow brushes so this was always going to be welcomed into my collection. It’s a tad too big for detailed work but is bang on for sweeping colour on large areas of your lid. Could also me multi tasked and used to blend in concealer.

Overall I am a happy bunny for finally finding this kit and I’ll forever love Real Techniques brushes. Have you tried any of them? I think my next purchase is the retractable kabuki brush… would love to hear opinions on that too.

  • Nottingham Light Night 2014

IMG_0175A few weeks ago me and Harvey decided to have a “date night” and head out for the Nottingham Light Night.

Harv met me from work and we treated ourselves to our favourite Indian in town, Tamatanga. Which of course was wonderful.

There was all sorts going on all over the place but the main area was at the Nottingham castle. It was £5 to get in and you could do all sorts! Plenty to see and do.

We then also ended up going to St Nics church on Maid Marion way where they had some musical entertainment and cakes and drinks for everyone that turned up. We were there for about an hour before heading off home.

We had a lovely night & Harv took loads of great photos that I thought I’d share with you. Have you ever been to the Nottingham Light Night before? I also went a few years ago and I do think personally there was more going on back then.

Are there any similar things near you?

  • TAG : Blog Your Heart Out.

    Thanks for the tag Lauren!

Blog your heart out is just answering 5 questions then tagging 5 other bloggers.

    1. Who/what encouraged you to start blogging?

I don’t think anyone encouraged me but my friend Grace from work had a fashion blog that I loved, and it was just reading that and then finding other bloggers that made me want to do it myself.

    2. How did you choose what topics to blog about?

I originally started with beauty posts purely because I wanted to share with people my opinions on things I’d bought. I then just expanded from there because I wanted to talk about all sorts of things.

    3. What is something most people don’t know about you?

I don’t really know, I don’t have many secrets. I’m sure there’s at least a few people that know different things about me.

    4. What three words describe your style?

    Comfortable, personal, varied.

    5. What do you love to do when you are not blogging?

When I’m not blogging I’m either with friends, with Harvey, visiting family or at the gym/running. I live a rather ordinary life and can’t think of anything better than being around the people you love.

    I tag…

  • #NottsBloggerMeet – 01.03.14

It really does seem like you can go ages without hearing about a blogger meet up and then all of a sudden a load crop up!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend another one, this time the layout was totally different again. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a meet up that has been the same/similar to another.

This meet up was held by Becka and Sophie and the main bulk of it was held at Zizzi in Nottingham. We were greeted by two tabled laid out beautifully with some rather impressive looking goodie bags on each seat. When I got there, there were already a few girls there so that made me a little bit more comfortable.  I sat down at the end of the first table and was surrounded by some lovely girls including Leah, Lora, Gemma, Mei, Becki, Ellie and Frankie, a few of which I have met before/have been at other meet ups I’ve been to.

Once everyone arrived we had a talk from Becky from Harlequin Cosmetics, a brand that is relatively small and is made in a family factory. At the moment the brand covers shower gels, body scrubs, soap bars and hand creams. We got to have a sniff of a handful of products and we were lucky enough to be treated to some samples of said products.

We had the choice to have a 3 course meal, which of course I took advantage of. While we were eating we were also visited by Charmed Ivy who let us browse the collection of jewellery they stock. There were some lovely little pieces all at really decent prices too.

Once the meal was over and we were all paid up we said our goodbyes and split into smaller groups to go for a bit of retail therapy. I didn’t find anything for myself really, I was trying to be good after my previous weeks spending spree. I then decided it was time to head off and said goodbye to the girls I’d gone round the shops with.

It was a nice day overall and it was really great to catch up with some of the girls I’ve met before and also getting to know the girls I hadn’t met before. I love meet ups that are local because you know that you can easily meet up with the people you’ve met again at a later date.

Thank you to Becka and Sophie for organising this meet up!

  • Retail Therapy – Leeds Haul

[L-R | Minnie Mouse 3D Bag – Primark | Mickey & Minnie Kissing Tights – Primark | Marvel Pyjamas – Primark | Vintage Leigh Jeans – Topshop | Short Padded Parka Jacket – Topshop| Zara Jacket]

The weekend before last I traveled up to Leeds with Mel to meet up with our bloggy friends Rachel, Joanna and Laura. It was a day of retail therapy & food at Nandos.

I thought I’d do a quick haul of what I bought while there.

Can I start by saying how much I LOVE Leeds Trinity and just Leeds in general. Every time I visit I fall in love again. The shopping is just 100 times better than Nottingham. We wandered around a lot of places but I ended up purchasing things from Topshop, Zara and Primark.

I’ll start with Primark, I ended up with a few bits and bobs that arguably I didn’t need, but the draw of how beautiful (and how quiet) it was made me want to shop. My attention obviously turned to the Coca-Cola pyjamas, even though I no longer drink coke I still love the branding and thought it’d be a bit of fun to have  it on some pyjamas, I already have a gym t-shirt with the logo on. Secondly I picked up the Marvel comics pyjamas, I do love a good pair of novelty pyjamas and I wanted to match Harvey in his pair that are similar. Next my eyes were drawn to the really cute pair of tights with Mickey and Minnie kissing on them, I have no idea when I’m going to wear them but I thought they were super cute. Maybe if the weathers a bit cooler when I’m in Anaheim at Disney I’ll wear them then. Which brings me onto the bag… how cute is that. I bought this for no other reason than for when I’m at Disney California. Mel got one too cause we’re that cool.

One place I definitely wanted to go was Topshop, I wanted a new pair of jeans that are coated but instead I ended up with a new pair of the light Leigh jeans that I’d worn a hole in the last pair, and the fluffy hooded jacket that I’d seen back when I was in London but didn’t pick it up so I’d been dreaming about it ever since.

We also had a browse in Zara where Rachel spotted the blazer jacket. I’d been looking for a wool camel coat for ages. Still regretting not getting the one from River Island that I was in love with. But actually I really like this one, it’s a good in between coat for dressing up or dressing down. The extra bonus was that it was in the sale for £40.

So overall I’ve bankrupt myself but I’m so happy with everything that I purchased. Have you treated yourselves to anything recently? Any recommendations for the camel coat that I actually want would be much appreciated!
