  • Confessions Of A Blogger Tag

When did you start your blog?
I started my blog on the 2nd of May 2013 so almost a year and a half ago.

Have you had any past online presence before (Other blog, YouTube)?
I feel like I’ve tried to write blogs before, but I can’t remember them and that’s probably for the best.
I do have a Tumblr but its nothing to do with this blog and it’s been pretty neglected for a while now.

When did you become serious about starting a blog?
I became really serious about a year ago now, yes I’ve had on and off moments but this is my hobby and I don’t want to end up resenting it because it takes over my life. I like to have something come come home to after work and enjoy doing.

    What was your first post?
My first post was just a sort of welcome post, apologising for the state of my blog because I hadn’t got anyone to help me design it and I just sort of threw myself into blogging without being planned.

What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
Fitting in the time to actually get the photos and making them the quality that I want when I work full time. I sometimes come home with zero motivation to do anything. And now it’s darker earlier I’m going to have to plan all posts over the weekend and get the photos done in preparation so I can make the most of the daylight.

Where do you see your blog in one year?
I don’t really know, you can never tell what’s going to happen. I’ll be happy if I’m still going and I hope to be able to post 3 times a week every week so hopefully that will have come into fruition .

What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
The most rewarding thing about blogging is meeting new people, sounds cheesy but it is. There are some of the nicest people out there that share the same interests as myself and I’m lucky enough to have met some great people along the way. I also think comments left on your posts are rewarding, it’s nice to know that people are actually reading what you’re saying and want to engage with you.

What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?
I think the most discouraging thing is when you fall into a slump and find it difficult to think of what to post, it’s really disheartening and you feel sad that you want to blog about something awesome but you just haven’t got the creativity. You just have to write it off and leave it until you get something good, don’t just post for the sake of it. I also still think my photography is rubbish and when you’ve got all these ideas for great shots and they don’t turn out how you want them to that can be discouraging.

What’s your lasting inspiration or motivation?
My motivation is seeing my stats go up and up, I know it’s not all about views but it helps keep me going knowing that what I’m doing is bringing in more and more people. I also get a great boost of motivation from being given the amazing opportunities I have been and hope to be given in the future.

  • Liebster Award

There’s something really thrilling to see a comment pop up from another blogger saying they’ve nominated you for an award. It really sends a warm happy feeling through your body. I was nominated for a liebster award a while ago now and I was lucky enough to be nominated by two people, the most recent one being my good friend Mel.

I’m just going to use the questions from her post for ease.

The rules for this award are as follows:
    – Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you and display the award.
    – Answer eleven questions that the blogger gives you.
    – Give eleven random facts about yourself.
    – Nominate five to eleven blogs that you think are deserving of the award, however they must have less than 200 followers.
    – Let the bloggers know you nominated them.
    – Give them eleven questions to answer.

    I was asked:
What 3 things would you take to a Desert Island?
I’d take sun-cream, of course. Got to make sure that I don’t burn to a crisp and to protect my skin.
My iPhone, it may not work internet wise but at least I’d have my music to keep me sane.
And I’d also without sounding too vein I’d take a sports bra so I could work out on the beach to look good with a tan!
    What song never gets old?
I think Prettiest Eyes by The Beautiful South (hard choice, could be any Beautiful South songs). It’s such a good song and it’s great when you listen to the lyrics.
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging is that it’s my space to do whatever I want with it and it’s always great to put up posts that I’m proud of and that might help other people that are reading them. Not in the emotional help sort of way, but deciding whether or not to buy the lipstick kind of way.
Dead or Alive if you could have dinner with anyone who would it be?
Well of course after everything that’s gone on recently, I’d chose to have dinner with my Grandma. I’d love to just talk to her one more time. We wouldn’t have a fancy dinner, we’d have a McDonald’s takeaway and we’d just talk.
Who was the first blogger you started following?
I’m pretty sure the first real persons blog I first started following/bookmarked was Corrie from Dizzybrunette, although I think TheBeautyDepartment was the first beauty blog I found but that’s a bit corporate.
    Do you still read them?
Yes, I do still read both. Corrie will continue to be a favourite of mine, she’s such a lovely down to earth girl.
    What’s you spirit animal?
I don’t really know how to answer this question, so I took a quiz. I got an Owl(<click for link for description)
Have you ever hidden your blog from anyone?
Yes I still try and hide it from people that actually know me but more and more of them seem to have found it. I’m growing in confidence with it through so it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to.
    Which ‘Friends’ character are you?
Again, I decided to take a quiz! I got Rachel.
Where is next on your destination list?
I’ve got plenty of places on my list that I dream of going at some point in my life, but if I was given an infinite amount of money and could go tomorrow it would be Canada.
    Hopeless Romantic or Realist?
Hopeless romantic, always have been, always will be.

    5. Title this The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Post so bloggers know what the post is about.
    6. Have fun! 🙂
1.Name a beauty regime that you rarely do?
I  don’t really know, maybe exfoliating/moisturising my body. I just think it takes too long and I cant be bothered to sit around and wait to dry.
    2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
Yes, but only more often in the past year since reading more and more beauty blogs. I now think that clean brushes is one of the best feelings ever and it just makes your makeup apply so much better.
    3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
I’d say about a week, maybe more, it depends how busy I am and if I’m going anywhere important other than work. Most people would get angry with how long I leave them.
    4. How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it? (i.e purchasing a new topcoat, or a new foundation etc.)
I can usually go a while cause I have a pretty good collection of multiple of the same things from different brands so they’ll keep me going so I don’t need to buy a new item. I’m trying to use a lot of it up to try and save some money too so we’ll see how that goes.
    5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Probably picking my nail varnish off then not applying a new colour for days/weeks later. Or not taking my makeup off when I can’t be bothered at the end of the day, but that doesn’t happen very often.
    6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
Calling/texting family members back. Not that I put it off per say, I just put it off for the moment then forget about it.
    7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?
No I hate it with a passion, I love having time to pamper myself, get a skincare routine done before hand and then do my makeup. The more stressed I am the more I hate the outcome of my makeup.
    8. Can you commit to spending bans?
Not really, I really need to put another one in place and start saving properly.  Maybe that will be a good opportunity to try again.
    9. How organised is your makeup and nail polish collection?
Since moving back to my parents it’s got a lot better, I have a drawer of my makeup that’s organised into product & price range. Then a cabinet of all my lotions & potions which are organised into hair/body/face and then into size so biggest things are at the back so I can see everything. And my nail polishes then fits into the drawer at the top of the cabinet that are organised into brand.
    10. What is the longest amount of time you have gone without writing a blog post?
Erm, I think recently it’s been the past month or so, but before then it was when I actually started my blog.
